Funny how jumping is one of the most primordial types of actions in video game history if you think about it. The moment devs figured out they could go beyond making top-down games jumping became an important part of game design. It almost feels like It's mandatory to have jumping in video games, even if a lot of games don't really benefit or use jumping mechanics in any sort of interesting way, like, do you really need jumping in a game like Call of Duty? Far Cry? Or even Grand theft Auto? Can you say removing jumping from those games would alter their gameplay in such a way that they couldn't exist without it? I'd argue it wouldn't take much to make them fully playable and enjoyable without jump mechanics, they'd just have to change level design to accomodate for it. Not that I think games are required to make jumping more meaninful and involved than just...jumping, it's always cool to have the option to jump even if it doesn't really matter imo... Look, I don't know why I felt like making this comment, I guess I just wanna say It's cool to see you're making a game and jumping seems to be an important part of it, good luck man 👍

Slurgi was the one who taught me that movement should be worked on just as much as aim. I’ve gotten out of so many situations by just moving efficiently and unpredictably. And it goes to real life as well. Everything should be done with proper movement, it’s the secret to feeling at home in your body.
